In order to be able to make a good career decision regarding "business, science or self-employment", you need a good information base, time for reflection and also advice. You should systematically examine career-related and personal aspects for this decision and work out the criteria that are relevant to your decision. Your values, motivations, life expectations and life situation play just as important a role as your skills profile, your qualifications and the requirements of the new job.
Also reflect on which pull and push factors you have within you. What are your wishes and what are the wishes of those around you? Is one path simply easier, more practical and currently safer?
You can also find further questions under Career orientation. The article "Artikel „Wissenschaft oder Wirtschaft? - Entscheidungshilfen für den Berufseinstieg nach dem Studienabschluss oder der Promotion" from the "academics Online Career Guide" series, 2020, is also very helpful.
