Promoting inner development - on the way to achieving the SDGs
“In 2015, the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) provided a comprehensive plan for a sustainable world by 2030. However, progress is not happening fast enough, and we urgently need to increase our collective abilities to face and work effectively with complex challenges.” (Quelle: https://innerdevelopmentgoals.org/)
The concept of the Inner Development Goals (IDGs) provides a framework for developing individual skills and competences that are crucial not only for personal success, but also for tackling global challenges. The IDG competences are designed to support people in becoming more conscious, authentic and empathetic individuals who can contribute positively to society and a sustainable future and thus to the implementation of the SDGs.
The module aligned with the IDGs is a valuable tool for fully developing one's own potential and experiencing self-efficacy.
The IDG categories in detail
#being - e.g. inner compass, self-knowledge, presence
#thinking - e.g. perspective skills, sense of purpose, long-term orientation
#relating - e.g. appreciation, connectedness, compassion
#cooperating - e.g. communication skills, ability to co-create, trust
#acting - e.g. courage, creativity, optimism
Practical methods for each of the IDG categories are presented and practised in their implementation. These include reflection exercises, methods for coping with stress and dealing with difficult situations, meditation, dyad work as training for communication and changing perspectives, mindfulness practice, finding your own values and much more. In addition, the connections between methods and effects are explained scientifically and supplemented with selected literature.
The aim of the course is to provide students with a skillset that enables them to develop the above-mentioned skills through their own inner attitude and to incorporate them into their everyday life and professional work and, if necessary, their leadership tasks.
